This product lives up to its promises, and delivers a full-bodied and intense experience, with dark chocolate, wood, and tobacco notes, just as advertized.
Here's my impressions, from unboxing to sipping:
Packaging - Excellent. The product arrived sealed, and opened easily. Lovely packaging. The orange color resonates well with the sense of fire offered by this vigorous, woody coffee.
Materials - Perhaps I'm being picky here, but Lavazza claims a zero emission impact, which is particularly odd for capsules whose beans traveled half the planet from more than 6 different developing countries in Africa and South America into Italy, then again to the rest of the world. A bold statement like that calls for proofs, which Lavazza did not provide. But hey, high five for the high-quality aluminum material!
Nespresso Machine Compatability - A perfect match, as good as Nespresso's own capsules.
Crema - As expected from a Robusta-infused type, this coffee produces a nice thick crema. Good consistency. The dark color is particulary stunning, a visual prelude to just how dark this coffee is going to taste!
Aroma - Unpleasant ashy aroma reminiscent of ashtrays. Not the most pleasing, but hey... you asked for 13/13 intenity!
Flavor - This product offers an intense flavor and a medium to long-lasting aftertaste. At such a dark roast, words like complexity, balance and sophisitcation are usually thrown out of the window, yet Lavazza managed to infuse it with a fair amount of interest through a smart selection of beans and careful roasting. Well done here. As clearly indicated by the 13/13 intensity marking, this coffee is not for everyone. Those in pursuit of very dark roasts will surely love it.
Price - A good offer.
Thanks, coffees.gr for importing this excellent variety! I'll keep buying more.
